TTC's new signaling system extended to Queen Station

This morning, the TTC extended subway operations on its new Automatic Train Control (ATC) system to Queen Station - bringing reliable, modernized signaling to more than half of Line 1.

With the work completed this weekend, ATC is now in service between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Queen stations; an extension of five stations from the previous boundary at St Patrick Station.

Taking ATC thought Line 1's downtown U is a major milestone for this project and customers travelling in this area are already experiencing the improved service and increased reliability that come with fewer signal-related delays.

As part of the work, a train turn-back was added to King Station, providing more operational flexibility during operational issues on Line 1.

When entering Queen Station northbound, customers will experience a slight pause. This is a temporary measure for customer comfort, to ensure a smooth stop when entering the station.

The next phase of the project will extend ATC from Queen Station to Rosedale Station, and this work is scheduled to be completed this November. The entirety of Line 1 is scheduled to be converted to ATC by September 2022.
