TTC to hold annual Accessible Transit Forum this Wednesday


The TTC will hold its annual Public Forum on Accessible Transit this Wed., Sept. 25.

Customers will have the opportunity to meet withTTC staff and members of the TTC’s Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit (ACAT) to provide feedback on system accessibility issues and Wheel-Trans services.

Updates from staff include:
- TTC’s Easier Access Program
- Wheel-Trans 10-Year Transformation Strategy
- Family of Services

Forty-five of the TTC’s 75 subway stations are now accessible, with more stations being added every year. All buses and subway trains are accessible and the TTC now has 175 new-low floor streetcars in service. Every streetcar route will be accessible by 2019, with full system accessibility by 2025.

Location: Beanfield Centre, Exhibition Place, Ballroom A - 105 Princes’ Blvd.

Accessible shuttle buses will run from St George Station (Bedford Entrance, bus level) to the Beanfield Centre and from the Beanfield Centre back to St George Station at the following times:

From St George Station to the Beanfield Centre

3 p.m.
3:30 p.m.
4:30 p.m.
5 p.m.
6 p.m.
6:30 p.m.

From the Beanfield Centre to St George Station

8:30 p.m.
9 p.m.
9:30 p.m.

Staff will be available at the station to direct customers to the shuttle.

 

Please note that all return Wheel-Trans trips will be organized after the event finishes at 9 p.m. and will not be scheduled in advance.

Attendees can also get to the forum using regularly scheduled accessible service by taking the 509 Harbourfront streetcar from Union Station to Strachan Ave. (approximately a 300m walk from the Beanfield Centre).

Attendants, ASL and captioning will be available. Please refer to the Beanfield Centre website for more information about accessibility of this venue, including service animal and AODA policy information.
