This weekend on the TTC

This Sat., Nov. 16 only, the portion of Line 1 between St Clair West and King stations will be closed to enable crews to continue installation of the Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system.

Shuttles buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station. Dupont Station will be closed, but all others will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes.

Wheel-Trans will be available upon request from any station. As King Station is not yet accessible, customers who require an accessible connection should use Queen Station instead. While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and ATC upgrades.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternative routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.

Sunday

The 115th annual Santa Claus Parade is this Sun., Nov. 17 and the TTC is the most convenient way to get there. The parade has a new route this year and customers can use Sherbourne, Bloor-Yonge and Bay stations to easily access the festivities. St George, Museum, Queen’s Park, St Patrick, Osgoode, Queen and King stations are also along the parade route.

The TTC will be adding extra service to many of its routes to make the day even more jolly. Also, parking at many TTC subway stations is free on Sundays and there are no subway closures.

In order to avoid lines and plan a hassle-free return trip, customers are encouraged to purchase a two-ride PRESTO ticket at the start of their journey or in advance of parade day. Two-ride PRESTO tickets are available at Fare Vending Machines at any TTC subway station or at any Shoppers Drug Mart location in Toronto. Children 12 and under ride free. Group Day Passes are not available on PRESTO.

The following routes will be diverting during the Santa Clause Parade and the Holly Jolly 5k Run:

- 5 Avenue Rd
- 6 Bay
- 65 Parliament
- 72 Pape
- 75 Sherbourne
- 94 Wellesley
- 121 Fort York-Esplanade

The 501 Queen, 504 King, 505 Dundas and 506 Carlton streetcars will continue to run on their regular routing, with some delays during the parade.
