Parts of two TTC lines to close early for ATC and maintenance work
Tonight and tomorrow night, June 18-19, the portion of Line 1 between Eglinton and Bloor-Yonge stations will close at 11 p.m. as TTC crews continue installation of the Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system.
Additionally, there will be no service on Line 3 Scarborough after 11 p.m. tonight through Thursday, June 18-20, as well as on Saturday night, June 22. These early closures are taking place so that TTC crews can carry out essential track maintenance.
Line 3 will also be closed all day on Sun., Jun. 23 to complete this scheduled work.
Eglinton to Bloor-Yonge
Shuttle buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. Summerhill Station will be closed, but all others will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes. Shuttle loading and offloading locations will vary from station to station. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers and answer questions.
Wheel-Trans will be available upon request from any station during the closures. Customers can speak with a TTC staff member to request Wheel-Trans service and for information about service frequency.
Line 3
Shuttle buses will run along Midland Ave. stopping at Kennedy, Lawrence East, Ellesmere, Midland and Scarborough Centre stations.
Midland and McCowan stations will be closed, but all others will remain open for fare sales and transfers to surface routes. All local surface connections will continue to run as scheduled.
Wheel-Trans will be available upon request from any station during the closures. Customers can speak with a TTC staff member to request Wheel-Trans service and for information about service frequency.
Regular service on Line 3 will resume on Mon., Jun. 24 at 6 a.m.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state of good repair work. Periodic Line 3 closures are required as the TTC undertakes a complete life-extension rehabilitation of the tracks and vehicles to provide a more reliable and comfortable service.
