This Sun., Jan. 6, Yorkdale and Lawrence West become the two newest TTC stations to close collector booths permanently and move to the new Customer Service Agent model. In place of booths, these stations will now have Customer Service Agents and PRESTO and fare vending machines.
The transition began in December 2017 with all Line 1 stations between Wilson and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. All TTC stations will eventually transition away from collector booths as part of the ongoing modernization and implementation of PRESTO across the system.
Customers using Yorkdale and Lawrence West stations can pay by tapping their PRESTO cards and with tickets, tokens, or exact cash. Customers can buy a PRESTO card, load it with money or a TTC Monthly Pass, or check their balance using a PRESTO Fare Vending Machine at any subway station entrance.
Though the collector booths will be closed, there will still be TTC personnel located at fare gate entrances at both stations to answer questions, assist customers and in case of an emergency. As stations transition to the new model, Customer Service Agents located near fare gate entrances will play a critical role in delivering a consistently efficient, safe and engaging experience for TTC customers.
Customers wishing to purchase tickets, tokens or TTC passes can do so at collector booths at any station that is not between Lawrence West and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, or from authorized TTC Fare Sellers. The TTC will stop selling tickets and tokens on August 3, 2019 and stop accepting them at the end of 2019.
