TTC Line 1 closure this weekend
This weekend, June 9-10, the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday only, as TTC crews continue installation of the Automatic Train Control (ATC) signal system.Yorkdale Station will be closed during this time, but all other stations will remain open for fare sales and transfers.
Shuttle buses will run on Saturday until the end of regular subway service at approximately 1:30 a.m., and restart at 8 a.m. on Sunday until regular subway service resumes at 11 a.m. Wheel-Trans service will be available for customers requiring an accessible connection. To request service, customers can speak with TTC staff at any location in the system.
The TTC has had to postpone several scheduled subway closures since April. The TTC’s largest union, ATU Local 113, is no longer agreeing to allow overtime beyond 48 hours.
In order to complete necessary ATC work this weekend, the TTC has shortened the closure window so that shuttle bus service is only required between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations for a total of about six hours, over two days.
The TTC is currently hiring more operators and expects to resume regularly scheduled subway closures in July.
The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternative routes. Customer service ambassadors will be available to answer questions throughout the weekend. For the most up-to-date information, subscribe to @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts at ttc.ca.
