TTC celebrates full accessibility at St Clair West Station
Tomorrow, TTC Chair Josh Colle will join Commissioner Joe Mihevc, TTC CEO Rick Leary and Raymond Dell'Aera, Chair of the Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit, to mark St Clair West Station becoming fully accessible.
Date: Thursday, July 19, 2018
Time: 3 p.m.
Location: St Clair West Station on Line 1, bus and streetcar transfer area
St Clair West features a barrier-free path to all levels of the station, including:
- Three elevators to access street, bus and streetcar level, concourse and northbound/southbound platforms
- Accessible fare gates and automatic sliding doors
- Improved signage and wayfinding
Accessibility improvements such as these support the TTC's Family of Services model, which gives Wheel-Trans customers the option to use accessible conventional transit services, such as buses, the subway and the growing fleet of low-floor streetcars. Family of Services is a part of the Wheel-Trans 10-Year Strategy that aims to reimagine and transform the accessible public transit services that are delivered to customers with disabilities.
In total, 44 of the TTC's 75 subway stations are now accessible. The TTC is committed to becoming fully accessible by 2025 under its Easier Access Program.
