TTC's St Patrick Station accessibility work begins

This Sat., Apr. 1, crews will begin constructing a new elevator that will make TTC's St Patrick Station accessible. The work requires the pedestrian crossing on the north side of Dundas St. W. at University Ave. to close.

The median lanes on University Ave., north and south of Dundas St. W., will also be restricted, as construction of the elevator shaft from the concourse level to the subway platform will occupy the north island at the intersection for the duration of construction (see attached graphic).

During construction, pedestrians will be required to cross University Ave. on the south side of the University/Dundas intersection. While the subway is open, pedestrians who are able, also have the option to cross underground through the subway station.

For the first week of construction, TTC customer service ambassadors will be in place to help pedestrians navigate the intersection.

This work is co-ordinated with the construction of a second elevator from street to concourse level being built as part of a private development on the intersection's northwest corner.

When the project is complete, customers will have new entrances to the station, a barrier-free path to all levels, accessible fare gates, improved wayfinding and security, and new public art.
