TTC track work on Line 1 this weekend

This weekend, Sept. 24-25, Line 1 Yonge-University will be closed between Bloor-Yonge and Osgoode stations as TTC crews complete track and other maintenance work. Shuttle buses will run frequently, starting at Rosedale Station and stopping at all subway stations along Yonge St., as well as at St Andrew and Osgoode stations.

Shuttle buses will not directly service Union Station during this closure. Customers wanting to access Union Station, including those attending this weekend’s Blue Jays and World Cup of Hockey events, have several options. Shuttle buses drop off southbound passengers at Wellington and Bay Sts. before continuing west to St Andrew and Osgoode stations. After the games, additional shuttle buses will be provided. Passengers requiring service north toward Bloor-Yonge Station can board a shuttle at the intersection of King and Bay Sts.

The 510 Spadina streetcar, which will have extra service, is another option for getting to and from the games. Customers can also reach Union Station on UP Express or the Lakeshore East or West GO lines.

TTC customers can also ride the University portion of Line 1 as far south as Osgoode Station and connect with streetcars at Osgoode, St Patrick and Queen’s Park stations to travel east to Yonge St.

Wheel-Trans buses will operate upon request between Bloor-Yonge and Osgoode stations. Customers can speak with any TTC staff member to request the service.

PRESTO is not yet available on all shuttle buses. Customers should carry tokens, tickets or cash in case the vehicle that arrives is not yet PRESTO-equipped.

Maintaining and modernizing transit infrastructure is critical to ensuring the TTC remains a safe and reliable transit system for its 1.8 million daily riders. While the TTC does much of its subway maintenance work at the conclusion of service each night, one weekend of work during a subway closure is equivalent to about five weeks of nightly work. For more information on subway closures, watch the "TTC Weekend Subway Closures" video.

The TTC thanks its customers, Toronto residents and businesses for their patience and understanding as it continues to upgrade and maintain critical infrastructure.

Regular subway service resumes Monday at 6 a.m. The next scheduled subway closures are:

  • Line 1: Wilson to Downsview - Oct. 7-10
  • Line 2 Bloor-Danforth: Pape to St George - Oct. 8 - 10
  • Line 4 Sheppard: Opening late – Oct. 9
