Toronto Royal Canadian Legion and TTC launch annual poppy sales campaign

Canadian veterans of war and peacekeeping missions will team up with Grade 6 students to launch the Toronto Royal Canadian Legion's annual TTC Poppy Campaign with a kick-off event tomorrow, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. at Spadina Station.

Veterans will pin poppies on students to remind Toronto residents to wear a poppy in honour of the men and women who served Canada.

On Remembrance Day, Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., the TTC will pause all service for two minutes to remember those who died in service of our country.

All TTC buses and streetcars will carry a sign on Remembrance Day reading "Lest We Forget" and a message will run on all platform video screens throughout the subway system.  The TTC Honour Guard will take part in the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph at Old City Hall.

On Remembrance Day, all current members of the Canadian Armed Forces in uniform, as well as war and peacekeeping veterans wearing military service medals or ribbons, and a companion, can ride the TTC free of charge.
