TTC subway musician audition applications available today

Applications are now available for the Toronto Transit Commission’s Subway Musicians’ Auditions, which will take place in August. Audition application packages can be picked up Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.at TTC head office, 1900 Yonge Street, at Davisville Station. Applications are also available at ttc.ca.

Applications will be accepted until 175 solo or duo acts apply, or until Friday, June 19 (whichever comes first). Auditions will be held at the Canadian National Exhibition Aug. 21-23. The top 74 acts, as selected by a panel of judges, will be selected to play in the subway system.

Musicians must be 18 years of age or older. Completed and signed application forms must be returned to head office reception desk by Friday, June 19.

In 1979, the first year of the program, eight musicians were selected to perform in eight stations. Today there are 86 musicians performing at 25 stations.
