Portion of TTC Line 1 closed this weekend

There will be no subway service between St. George and Lawrence West stations this weekend – March 21 – 22 – while the Toronto Transit Commission replaces 600 metres of rail, and upgrade switches and maintains signals on a portion of Line 1.

Maintaining subway infrastructure in a state-of-good-repair is critical to ensuring a safe, reliable transit system. While the TTC does much of its maintenance work on the subway after the conclusion of service, it will continue to require weekend closures to complete improvements to infrastructure and signals, such as automatic train control. The TTC appreciates the public’s patience and understanding.

Replacement buses will operate between St. George and Lawrence West stations, though they will not stop at Eglinton West Station because of construction along Eglinton Ave. W. Instead, replacement buses will use the following routing:

Southbound

• From Lawrence West Station, west of Lawrence Ave., south on Marlee Ave., east on Glencairn Ave., south on Bathurst St., east on St. Clair Ave. W., south on Spadina Rd., west on Austin Terr., south on Walmer Rd., south on Kendall Ave., east on MacPherson Ave., south on Spadina Rd., east on Bloor St. W., north on St. George St., entering St. George station.

Northbound

• From St. George Station, south on Bedford Rd., west on Bloor St. W., north on Spadina Rd., west on Davenport Rd., north on Walmer Rd., east on Austin Terr., north on Spadina Rd., west on St. Clair Ave. W., north on Bathurst St., west on Glencairn Ave., north on Marlee Ave., east on Lawrence Ave. to Lawrence West Station.

A Wheel-Trans vehicle will be available for customers who require accessible transit. Customers can speak with any uniformed TTC employee at either station to make use of this service.

Normal subway service will resume on Mon., March 23 at 6 a.m.
