Weekend track work to close portion of TTC’s Line 1

This weekend, on November 8 - 9, there will be no service on Line 1 (Yonge-University) between Bloor and Eglinton stations due to signal and track work. Frequent shuttle buses will operate between Bloor and Eglinton stations. Toronto Transit Commission staff will be on-hand all weekend at all affected stations to assist customers. Davisville, St Clair and Rosedale stations will remain open for fare transactions and connecting surface routes. Summerhill Station will be closed. Wheel-Trans buses will be available to accommodate customers who use wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility aids.

This weekend’s work is part of the TTC’s commitment to modernizing its signal system and maintaining track and switches to ensure a more reliable subway service. The equipment on this portion of Line 1 is 60-years-old in many cases, and needs upgrading and replacing. This work will result in the lifting of the slow speed order between Eglinton and Davisville stations by November 15.

Alternate routes to the subway service on Line 1 include:

- Frequent shuttle buses on Yonge Street between Eglinton and Bloor stations

- 32 Eglinton West bus from Eglinton to Eglinton West Station

- 512 St Clair streetcar from St Clair to St Clair West Station

Regular subway service resumes on Monday, November 10, at 6 a.m.

The TTC thanks its customers for their patience as it renews and maintains its critical infrastructure.
