TTC, unions ratify contracts in four 4-year deals
The Toronto Transit Commission has successfully completed negotiations for new collective agreements with its four unions, ratifying four-year deals with ATU Local 113, CUPE Locals 2 and 5089, and IAMAW Lodge 235.
Negotiations with the unions, which represent approximately 10,000 employees, began in early March and ended last night when ATU Local 113 members voted to ratify their agreement. The previous collective agreements expired March 31.
This is the first time the TTC and its unions have negotiated settlements without the need for arbitration since 2008. This is a testament to the hard work and determination by all parties to reach agreements at the table.
The contracts, which include modest wage increases, and limits to contracting out and improved job security, will cost about $196 million over four years.
Wage settlement details are as follows:
ATU Local 113 (includes operators, collectors and maintenance workers)
Operators and Wheel Trans Operators:
o April 1, 2014: 2%
o April 1, 2015: 2%
o April 1, 2016: 2%
o April 1, 2017: 2.25%
Wage Groups 1-3
o April 1, 2014: 0% + $500
o April 1, 2015: 0% + $500
o April 1, 2016: 0% + $500
o April 1, 2017: 0% + $500
All other ATU employees and non-union staff:
o April 1, 2014: 1%
o April 1, 2015: 0.5% + 1.5% lump sum
o April 1, 2016: 1.75%
o April 1, 2017: 2.25%
CUPE Local 2 (Electrical, Signals and Radio Communication employees)
o April 1, 2014: 1%
o April 1, 2015: 0.5% Base Pay Increase, 1.5% Lump Sum Payment
o April 1, 2016: 1.75% Base Pay Increase
o April 1, 2017: 2.25% Base Pay Increase
CUPE Local 5089 (Transit Enforcement Officers)
o April 1, 2014: 0% on Base, with a 1% Lump Sum Payment
o April 1, 2015: 0.75% Base Pay Increase
o April 1, 2016: 2% Base Pay Increase
o April 1, 2017: 2.25% Base Pay Increase
IAMAW Lodge 235 (skilled and semi-skilled trades)
o April 1, 2014: 0%
o April 1, 2015: 0.5% Base Pay Increase, 1.5% Lump Sum Payment
o April 1, 2016: 1.75% Base Pay Increase
o April 1, 2017: 2.25% Base Pay Increase
