Full TTC subway service midweek for planned October closure

In July, the Toronto Transit Commission announced a major subway closure for October on the downtown portion of the Yonge-University-Spadina (YUS) subway line as part of the re-signaling project for the subway system. The TTC is pleased to announce a change to that schedule that will now allow it to do this work without a midweek subway closure from King to Osgoode stations.

The closures this October from Bloor Station to St George Station on the Yonge-University line - the downtown U - are now as follows:

- Oct. 12-14 (Thanksgiving weekend)

- Oct. 19-20

The entire subway system will operate normally from Oct. 15-18.

Over the past two years, the TTC has gained significant experience as it installs new signaling equipment and prepares for the commissioning of a new signal system. Lessons learned in the most recent subway closures about the amount of work that can be accomplished have led engineers to determine that the work required in October can be completed as planned without the need for a midweek closure of the subway in the downtown core.

A comprehensive bus shuttle service will be in place on Yonge St. and University Ave. during both weekends in October. Customer service staff will be at all affected stations to provide assistance to customers and the public.
