Public invited to TTC’s Bay Lower Station during Doors Open Toronto

The TTC will be opening its doors this Saturday, May 25, as part of Doors Open Toronto. The public is invited to visit the TTC’s Bay Lower Station.

Bay Lower was a functioning station when the Bloor-Danforth subway opened in February, 1966. Alternate trains on the Yonge-University-Spadina line used the connecting tunnels to travel to the Bloor-Danforth line. After six months, the TTC decided that operating two different lines worked best.

Ever since, Bay Lower Station has been used for training and filming. Movies such as Don’t Say A Word, Total Recall, Repo Men and New York Minute have used Bay Lower.  Movie stars such as Bruce Willis, Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Mark Wahlberg have worked at Bay Lower.

Hundreds of TV shows and commercials have been shot at the station beneath the station as well.

The public is invited to tour Bay Lower Station on Saturday, May 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that the last admissions will be at 4:45 p.m. Admission is free.
