TTC re-signalling upgrade continues on University line
The Toronto Transit Commission is conducting major re-signalling work on the University portion (St George to Union stations) of the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line this Sunday, March 17.
As a result of this work, subway trains will terminate at St George and Union stations beginning with the start of subway service on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. The TTC had originally planned to close the University line at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, but will now operate the entire line until the end of service instead.
Regular subway service resumes at 6 a.m. on Monday, March 18.
A frequent shuttle bus service will operate every three to five minutes between St George and St Andrew station on the University line and St George and King Station on the Yonge line.
The TTC has produced a video to explain this closure. Customers can watch the video by visiting the “OfficialTTCchannel” on YouTube, University subway closures - March 2013 .
With elevators at St George Station undergoing a major overhaul, the TTC will have Wheel-Trans buses stationed at Bathurst, Eglinton West and Union subway stations to accommodate seniors and persons with disabilities who use wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility aids.
