Full TTC subway service resumes on Bloor-Danforth line

The Toronto Transit Commission has restored full subway service to Kipling Station on the Bloor-Danforth line.

Following Monday evening’s severe storm activity, flooding at Kipling Station and prolonged power outages in the west end of the city prevented the TTC from operating subway trains between Jane and Kipling Stations. At its height, 70 shuttle buses operated along that section of Bloor St. Earlier this morning, the TTC was able to restore partial subway service to Islington Station.

The TTC would like to thank City of Toronto staff for their hard work in helping restore critical services and in keeping the city safe, as well as Toronto Hydro and Hydro One for their continuing and tireless efforts in restoring power to residents, as well as to the TTC.

The TTC would also like to thank its customers for their patience and understanding in the last 48 hours, as thousands endured long waits and slow commutes on many routes around the city. Finally, CEO Andy Byford thanks the 13,000 men and women of the TTC for their professionalism and dedication to public service that was clearly on display during this time, including operators, station staff, technicians, engineers, cleaners, supervisors, and those in the Transit Control Centre who orchestrate service under sometimes trying circumstances, 24 hours a day, 7 days week.
