Third party incident at Kingston Rd. and Queen St. disrupts TTC streetcar service

The TTC’s 501 Queen, 502 Downtowner and 503 Kingston Rd streetcars are turning back at Connaught Ave. due to a garbage truck that took down overhead wires on Kingston Rd at Queen St. around 12:30 p.m. today.

Streetcar service was initially diverted to Broadview Station with shuttle buses replacing service on Queen east of Broadview and on Kingston Rd. At 4 p.m., power was restored to Russell Yard, enabling streetcars to service stops on Queen as far east as Connaught Ave.

Kingston Rd remains closed at Queen St. as TTC staff work to repair the overhead wires. 501 Queen streetcar service to Neville Loop is expected to resume shortly. Shuttle buses will continue to replace 502 Downtowner and 503 Kingston Rd streetcar service from Connaught Ave. to Bingham Loop for the duration of the afternoon rush hour.
