Spadina-King intersection to close for TTC track work

Beginning Tues., Aug. 6, the TTC and the City of Toronto will carry out major construction work at the Spadina Ave. and King St. W. intersection. The work will involve the reconstruction of the streetcar track and partial reconstruction of the roadway and sidewalk. The work is required to bring street and streetcar track infrastructure to a state of good repair.

As a result of this work, there will be no streetcar service on the 504 King and 508 Lakeshore between Shaw St. and Church St. Service on both routes will be diverted to Queen St. Customers using the subway can access the 504 King and 508 Lakeshore at the Queen and Osgoode subway stations.  Normal streetcar service on King St. will resume on Aug. 20.

The construction work will also require changes to the 510 Spadina streetcar. Streetcars on Spadina will be replaced with a curb-side bus operation from Spadina Station to Queens Quay.  On Aug. 20, 510 Spadina buses will operate through the King and Spadina intersection. On Sept. 1, streetcars will resume service on Spadina Avenue to the Charlotte Loop. Buses will operate from Adelaide Street West to Queens Quay West.
