TTC 510 Spadina route to be replaced by buses starting Monday

The Toronto Transit Commission’s 510 Spadina streetcar route will undergo major investment and renewal work this summer. Starting Monday, June 18, the TTC and the City of Toronto will be carrying out track reconstruction at several key locations. Crews will also take advantage of this necessary maintenance downtime to update and modify the passenger platforms and shelters, and modernize the overhead power system in preparation for the arrival of the TTC’s new low-floor streetcars. During construction, buses will replace streetcars on the 510 Spadina route. This work will conclude this fall. Additional track work will be carried out next summer.

Buses will operate in the regular traffic lanes on Spadina Ave., not on the streetcar right-of-way, and will service temporary stops in the curb lanes. The streetcar platform and tunnel at Spadina Station will not be used by buses; instead, the bus replacement service will utilize the bus platform at ground-level at Spadina Station.

At the south end of Spadina Ave., buses will alternately terminate at King St. or Queens Quay. Destination signs on each bus will indicate its destination. Customers traveling to Union Station can transfer from the bus to the 509 Harbourfront streetcar at Queens Quay. The TTC has increased service on this route between Union Station and Spadina Ave.
