TTC weekend subway closure offers several alternatives for customers

The Toronto Transit Commission is closing a portion of the Yonge subway line this weekend between Bloor and Eglinton stations to continue the installation of new track work that, when finished, will significantly improve service for customers travelling along that portion of the subway.

During the closure this Saturday and Sunday, the TTC will have 50 accessible buses operating on Yonge St. between Eglinton Ave. and Bloor St. every two to three minutes. The buses will stop just outside Davisville, St. Clair, Summerhill, Rosedale and Bloor stations. Customers continuing their trip south, or east or west on the Bloor-Danforth line, can pick up the subway at Bloor-Yonge Station. Buses travelling north will also service the aforementioned stops, but will enter Eglinton Station where the subway will continue to operate north to Finch Station.

As well, the entire University and Spadina line portions of the subway will be open and operating as normal. Customers, if they prefer, can use that line, connecting via the 512 St. Clair streetcar (St. Clair West Station) or the 32 Eglinton West bus (Eglinton West Station); or the 52 Lawrence West bus (Lawrence West Station).

Approximately 140,000 trips are made each Saturday on the Yonge subway between Eglinton and Bloor stations, and 85,000 each Sunday. TTC staff will be on-hand at both Eglinton and Bloor stations this weekend to ensure customers get to where they need to go with minimal disruption.
