TTC to close portion of Yonge subway for weekend track work

The TTC will be constructing a new double cross-over section of subway track at College Station on the Yonge-University-Spadina line. Once completed, the new cross-over will result in more efficient and reliable service. When completed, subway trains will be able to turn back at College Station.  At the present time, trains must turn back at Union or Bloor stations.

In order to undertake this work, the TTC will close the Yonge line from Union Station to Bloor Station on three weekends, starting with this coming weekend, Saturday, January 29 and Sunday, January 30. Regular subway service will resume on Monday, January 31.

All trains on the University-Spadina line will turn back at Union Station. All trains on the Yonge line will turn back at Bloor-Yonge Station. A frequent, accessible bus service will operate between Bloor-Yonge and Union Stations. Buses will stop at Bloor Street, Wellesley Street, College Street/Carlton Street, Dundas Street, Queen Street, King Street and at Front and Bay Street.

As an alternative, customers can walk or take the streetcar to University Avenue, and travel north to St. George Station, then transfer to the Bloor-Danforth line eastbound to Yonge Station, where they can transfer back to the Yonge line.
