TTC receives notice to proceed for the Scarborough Rapid Transit Project


The Toronto Transit Commission has received the Minister of the Environment's Notice to Proceed for the Scarborough Rapid Transit Project. The project approximately 10-kilometres long and includes nine stations running from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue. This includes converting and extending the existing RT. The Scarborough Rapid Transit Line will provide rapid, reliable and high capacity transit service to residents in Scarborough. This project is a component of the Transit City Light Rail Plan, which is an initiative to build 120km of light rail through eight LRT transit projects in Toronto. The objective of Transit City is to provide excellent and environmentally-friendly transit service, which will increase transit capacity, reduce auto-dependency and create a more liveable, attractive and sustainable city.
