TTC receives ‘Notice to Proceed’ for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project

The Toronto Transit Commission has received the Minister of the Environment's ‘Notice to Proceed’ for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. The joint TTC/City of Toronto Environmental Project Report for the 33-km-long project from Kennedy Station to Pearson Airport includes a 10.5-km underground tunnel in the central section of Eglinton from Black Creek Drive to Brentcliffe Road.

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT will provide rapid, reliable and high-capacity transit service along the Eglinton Avenue corridor. This project is a component of the Transit City Light Rail Plan, which is an initiative to build 120 km of light rail through eight LRT transit projects in Toronto. The objective of Transit City is to provide excellent and environmentally friendly transit service, which will increase transit capacity, reduce auto-dependency and create a more liveable, attractive and sustainable city.
