TTC United Way Campaign hits new record

TTC employees and pensioners have raised $1,415,000 for the United Way of Toronto, a new TTC record. Bingo, pizza sales in the subway, payroll donations and the annual TTC Idol are just a few of the dozens of events held during the 2010 United Way campaign.

“With yet another all-time record achieved for fundraising, our employees and pensioners demonstrated that TTC can also mean ‘Transit That Cares,” said Chief General Manager, Gary Webster. “Everyone who contributed or participated in this year’s United Way campaign should feel good knowing that their efforts will go to help someone less fortunate than themselves.”

“I would also like to thank our customers who clearly appreciate the efforts TTC employees make each year to help the United Way, particularly on Pizza Wednesdays. They, too, play a large role in ensuring others in their community will benefit from the many services that rely on United Way funding.”

A cheque was presented today to the United Way by representatives from TTC management, unions and pensioners.
