TTC subway musician audition dates

The 31st Annual TTC Subway Musicians’ Auditions are just around the corner. Up to 175 solo or duo acts that apply by June 26 will be invited to audition at the Canadian National Exhibition, from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23.

Application packages are available at the TTC head office, 1900 Yonge Street, at the Davisville Station, Monday to Friday only, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or on the TTC website, www.ttc.ca.

The top 74 acts, as voted by a panel of judges, will be selected to play in the subway system for a year, from October 8, 2009 to October 7, 2010. Thirty years ago, in 1979, eight musicians were selected to perform in eight stations. Today there are 83 musicians performing at 25 stations.

Musicians must be 18 years of age or older. Completed and signed application forms must be returned to the head office reception desk by June 26, 2009.
