TTC Subway Musicians Audition Applications Available Friday


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 22, 2008) - Applications for the 30th Annual TTC Subway Musicians Auditions will be available beginning Friday, May 23rd. Twenty-nine years ago, in 1979, eight musicians were selected to perform in eight stations. Today there are 86 musicians performing at 25 stations.

Beginning Friday, May 23, TTC Subway Musicians Audition applications packages will be available at the TTC head office, 1900 Yonge Street, at the Davisville Station, Monday to Friday only, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, or on the TTC website, www.ttc.ca.

Up to 175 solo or duo acts that apply by June 27th will be invited to audition at the Canadian National Exhibition, from August 15 to 17 inclusive. The top 74 acts, as voted by a panel of judges, will be selected to play in the TTC subway system for a year, from October 8, 2008 to October 7, 2009. One entertainer, Billy James, who has been with the program since its beginning, has been declared a honourary subway musician and is the 75th musician.

Musicians must be 18 years of age or older. Completed and signed application forms must be returned to the head office reception desk by June 27, 2008.
