Watermain and Track Renewal

Queen Street East

Track work and transit changes starting February 23, 2026

Starting as early as Monday, February 23, the streetcar track renewal phase of the project will begin and involve excavation, removal of old concrete and rail, and preparing the area for new rail installation. Only one eastbound lane will be maintained through the work zone on Queen Street East during this work.

Queen and Carroll transit stops

For safety, the transit stops at Queen Street East and Carroll Street are out of service during construction. The next closest stops are at Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue.

Work details

The City’s contractor has remobilized on Queen Street East between Broadview Avenue and Davies Avenue for watermain and streetcar track replacement.

TTC service will continue to divert during this work.

TTC service impacts

Since November 22, 2025

During track work starting as early as February 23, 2026 

  • 501/301 Queen streetcars will continue to divert via Broadview Avenue, Dundas Street East, and Parliament Street.
  • 504B/304 King streetcars will continue to operate as far east as Distillery Loop.
  • Eastbound 301B Queen, 503 Kingston Rd and 504 King replacement buses will maintain their existing diversions.
    • Westbound 301B Queen buses will divert via Dundas Street East and River Street
    • Westbound 503 Kingston Rd buses will divert via Broadview Avenue, Eastern Avenue, Front Street East, and Parliament Street.
    • Westbound 504 King buses will divert via Broadview Avenue, Dundas Street East, and River Street.
  • 505 Dundas streetcars and 121 River-Esplanade buses stay on regular routing during this project.
  • Wheel-Trans service will be maintained.
