Track Renewal

Queen Street East

Work details

Scheduled to start in October, 2025, the City of Toronto will begin replacing aging watermains on Queen Street East between Broadview Avenue and Davies Avenue, including Munro Street. This work is expected to continue until Winter 2026, with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction during construction.

Following the watermain work, the City of Toronto and TTC will begin streetcar track replacement on Queen Street East from Broadview Avenue and Davies Avenue. This phase is expected to begin in Spring 2026 and conclude in mid-Spring 2026, with one lane of eastbound traffic maintained during construction.

Expected timelines and travel impacts

  • Watermain work: October 2025 – Winter 2026
  • Track replacement: Spring 2026 – mid-Spring 2026

During both phases, Queen Street East will remain open to local traffic with lane reductions. Parking will not be permitted within the work zone.

Work hours and noise

TTC crews will work around the clock (24/7), including overnight, especially during rail installation to preserve the integrity and quality of the new rail and freshly poured concrete.

Noise and lights from construction vehicles and machinery should be expected.
