Track Renewal and Overhead Upgrades

Long Branch Loop

What we are doing and why

Starting as early as June 2026, the TTC will begin renewing the streetcar tracks at the Long Branch Loop and the west intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Browns Line – as part of its state-of-good-repair program.

Work will include track renewal, overhead power upgrades, and upgrades to the pedestrian walkway in the parkette, between Long Branch Loop and the Long Branch Go Station.

During construction, Long Branch Streetcar Loop will be closed, and buses will replace streetcars to Humber Loop. The Long Branch Bus Loop will remain open during construction.

Work hours and construction

  • Excavation and removal of old streetcar tracks will occur at various times throughout the day. Concrete milling and breaking activity will mainly occur between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.
  • TTC crews will work around the clock (24/7) during the rail installation work phase to preserve the integrity and quality of the newly installed streetcar rail and freshly poured concrete.
  • Some overnight work/noise during this phase is unavoidable.

Rail delivery and storage

Before work begins, TTC crews will deliver new pre-cast streetcar rails on flatbed trailers. The pre-welded rails speed the installation process. Trailers will be parked at or near the work zone.

TTC Service Changes

Service details will be available here once confirmed.
