We Moved the World: FIFA World Cup 2026™

The TTC's FIFA World Cup 2026™ efforts brought together enhanced service, dedicated customer ambassadors, improved wayfinding, and coordinated operations to help fans travel seamlessly across Toronto.

As an official host city for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Toronto welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world and played a critical role in connecting fans to matches at Toronto Stadium (at Exhibition Place), FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto, and celebrations across the city.

Months of planning and preparation helped ensure customers could move safely and efficiently throughout the tournament. The TTC enhanced service on key routes serving Toronto Stadium and FIFA Fan Festival™, including the King, Dufferin, Bathurst, Ossington, and Harbourfront corridors.

To help customers navigate the system, the TTC introduced a new wayfinding pilot at Bathurst, Dufferin, Bloor-Yonge, Union, St Andrew, and King stations. Enhanced signage and station markers made it easier for riders to find exits, connections, and nearby destinations during the tournament.

The results were historic. Between June 10 and July 11, 3.6 million event-day trips were taken on routes serving the Toronto Stadium and FIFA Fan Festival™ - an increase of 42% (on match days) compared to the same period last year. Customer experience also remained strong throughout the tournament, with a 91% real-time customer satisfaction score and a 92% system-wide sense of safety score. Behind these outcomes lies the dedication of TTC employees, who worked around the clock to keep customers moving safely and efficiently.
From frontline employees, over 500 staff ambassadors, and countless more behind the scenes, Team TTC worked together to support fans, residents, and visitors throughout the tournament. Whether managing crowds, maintaining reliable service, or helping customers navigate the network, TTC team members worked tirelessly throughout the tournament to create a welcoming transit experience for people from around the world.
