Internship Program
Build your future with hands-on experience.
At the TTC, our Internship Program offers meaningful opportunities for post-secondary students across Canada to gain real-world experience in a dynamic and inclusive workplace. Whether you’re in a university or college program, our goal is to help you build skills, grow professionally, and explore potential career paths in public transit.
This program is inclusive of all university and college students, whether you’re in a co-op program and require work-term credit, or in a non-co-op program and looking to take a break from school to gain skills and experiences at TTC.
What You’ll Do
Students are assigned to specific departments for 4, 8, 12, or 16 - month terms. You’ll work on real projects, collaborate with experienced teams, and contribute in ways that mirror full-time roles—giving you the chance to walk away with knowledge, confidence, and career-ready experience.
Program Timelines
We recruit students three times a year to align with academic calendars. While the recruitment cycle occurs every four months, actual work terms vary in length depending on the position.

Our Recruitment Process
We’re committed to equity and fairness in every step of the recruitment process:
- Apply Online
After identifying a suitable opportunity, you will be prompted to register or log in to our Careers Portal. Upon signing in, you can complete the application, which includes role-specific pre-screening questions.
- Shortlisting
Once the posting closes, our recruitment team reviews all applications. Shortlists are created based on qualifications listed in the job posting, including education, technical skills, and experience (academic projects, part-time jobs, previous co-op/intern experience, or community involvement).
- Interviews
Hiring teams select candidates for interviews, which typically last 30–60 minutes. Interviews may include behavioural, situational, or technical questions depending on the role. To ensure fairness, all candidates for the same position are asked the same set of questions and evaluated using a consistent scoring system. Accommodations are available upon request.
- Offers
After interviews, the team selects the top candidate and extends an offer. If successful, you’ll be contacted shortly after interviews conclude.
- Onboarding
Once you accept your offer, we’ll walk you through the onboarding process, which may include a background check and—for safety-sensitive positions—a medical and drug screening. You’ll receive clear instructions every step of the way.
