Spadina Station - electrical upgrades requiring temporary generator

Effective July 12, 2024 to July 15, 2024

Work description and purpose

The TTC will be working to upgrade the electrical system at Spadina Station. This work is important to provide reliable subway service for the long term. As part of this work, system testing will be conducted during the weekend of July 12 to 15 involving the use of a temporary generator.

The generator will be positioned on the west side of the station entrance at 6 Spadina Road as early as Friday, July 12. The generator will be turned on between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday, July 14. Noise will be evident when the generator is in operation.

This work is necessary in keeping TTC’s infrastructure in a state of good repair and to test backup power to the station when using a generator. Electricity to the community will not be impacted. TTC will require the use of a temporary generator over another weekend in the next few months – another notice will be issued when those dates are finalized.

Key dates, hours and details

  • As early as Friday, July 12, 2024, material/equipment will be delivered and stored at the rear of Spadina Station’s west side entrance at 6 Spadina Road.
  • On July 14 from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., a temporary generator will be active and providing power to the station.
  • All work will be completed and the temporary generator will be removed by end of day on July 15.

Thank you for your patience during these electrical upgrades.
