Spadina Avenue - essential track and concrete repairs

Effective August 12, 2024 to August 16, 2024

What we are doing and why

From August 12 to 16, 2024, TTC track crews will be conducting essential rail and concrete repairs along the streetcar right-of-way on Spadina Avenue between Adelaide Street West and Dundas Street West. There are no expected impacts on traffic or transit.

These essential repairs are part of TTC’s preventative maintenance program to ensure safe and reliable streetcar operations. Crews will generally work from Adelaide Street West and work their way north towards Dundas Street West. There will be instances where crews are working in multiple locations at the same time.

510 Spadina buses will continue to operate on Spadina Avenue in mixed traffic. The work will be completed before the Toronto Chinatown Festival on August 17 and 18.

Work activities, hours, and timeline:

  • Work activities will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 12, and will include concrete saw-cutting, concrete breaking/removal, rail replacement, and placement of new concrete. Work is expected to be completed in this area by Friday, August 16.
  • Concrete breaking/removal work will be completed during the daytime between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.
  • Some around-the-clock work is required to ensure the quality installation of new rail and concrete.

Motorist, cyclist, and pedestrian impacts

  • All work will take place along the streetcar right-of-way. There are no expected impacts to motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve transit infrastructure in Toronto.
