Duncan Duct Banks Preparatory Work


Investigation work and test pit digging on Richmond Steet and Nelson Street
Effective October 4, 2024 to mid October 2024

TTC is installing new duct banks between the Duncan Traction Power Substation and Osgoode Station. TTC will be conducting investigation work followed by the digging of test pits. This work is necessary to confirm the location of underground utilities within the area. The work zone is along Richmond Street from Twilight Lane to University Avenue and Nelson Street from Duncan Street to 25 metres east on Twilight Lane.

What to expect

  • Work will commence as early as October 4 and last approximately two weeks.
  • Vibration and noise are expected during the test pit operations.
  • A hydro vacuum truck will be used during this work.
  • The test pits will be restored to previous condition within 24 hours.


Vehicular and Pedestrian Impacts

  • One traffic lane will be affected during the ongoing test pit digging.
  • There may be minor disruptions to the sidewalk during the test pit work.
  • Flagmen will direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic.


Work hours

Work activities will take place Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
