What we are doing, and why

TTC will be conducting geotechnical investigation work on Nelson Street, Richmond Street West and University Avenue. This work is necessary to support the upgrades to the Duncan Substation, including replacing an underground duct bank in 2026, as part of the TTC’s Line 1 Capacity Enhancement project. The Duncan Substation Duct Bank Replacement project will upgrade the substation capacity to support the subway traction power system, speeding up journey times and improving subway service on Line 1.
