Donlands Station Vent Shaft Upgrades

Effective April 15, 2024 to early May 2024

As part of the TTC’s commitment to safety and modernization, Donlands Station (Line 2) will be undergoing vent shaft upgrades. This work is necessary to facilitate new elevators at the main station entrance and the future secondary entrance/exit building on Dewhurst Blvd. The elevators and the secondary entrance/exit is anticipated to open in June 2024.

Construction work will be begin as early as April 15, 2024 and continue for four to six weeks. Containment barriers will be erected around the vent shaft for safety of our neighbours and personnel.

Construction work will be conducted behind barriers in the underground vent shafts.

Work Area

The work will take place within the vent shafts by the northeast corner of Donlands Avenue and Strathmore Boulevard. There will be a small contained area on the northeast sidewalk by Strathmore Boulevard and Donlands Avenue to store equipment. Waste will be picked up frequently and loaded into a truck.


·      Vehicular and pedestrian access will not be impacted.


Work hours

The majority of work activities will take place between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. seven days a week. Work will take place inside the vents underground and will generate minimal disruption. The contractor is permitted to work 24 hours a day until the work is completed and to perform the necessary overnight work. The contractor will make every attempt to minimize disruption to residents and businesses.


TTC service

Subway and bus service will continue as scheduled.
