November 6, 2017

On Saturday, October 28, the TTC hosted more than 5,000 visitors for a sneak peek of three more stations. The three stations - Pioneer Village, Highway 407 and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) - are part of the six stations, 8.6 km Line 1 subway extension - also known as the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) - into York Region, opening Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Visitors had access to the stations, took self-guided tours, discovered unique facts about the stations and how they were built and will operate, took selfies, spoke with project staff, CEO Andy Byford, architect Will Alsop, and artists David Pearl and Paul Raff. Visitors also enjoyed explainer videos on the architecture and design of the stations, Carillion's construction and massive concrete roof pour of VMC Station, SmartCentre’s and the City of Vaughan’s future expansion plans for the area. A mini-theatre was also set-up at each station to watch a video of the project's construction and evolution.
