Highway 7 Lane Restrictions for Upcoming Millway Avenue Closure

August 30, 2011

Detour and access road construction begins this week for the upcoming long-term closure of Millway Avenue. Access to Millway Avenue is required for long-term subway station and tunnel construction. Millway Avenue is anticipated to close on Tuesday, September 13th from Portage Parkway to Highway 7 including the intersection of Apple Mill Road. Construction for the next two weeks includes; connecting Highway 7 to the Future Shop Driveway and Apple Mill Road and building an access driveway from Interchange Way to Toromont CAT (green lines on map below). Construction of the detour and access roads is anticipated to be complete on Monday, September 12th.

Work Hours

The City of Vaughan has approved a noise by-law amendment which allows the contractor to perform overnight and weekend work when required to minimize long-term disruption and to keep the project on schedule. Notices will be distributed to keep the community informed.

Lane Restrictions
Highway 7 will remain open at all times during construction, with three lanes open in both directions. There will be temporary curb lane restrictions on the north side for access road construction. There will also be intermittent lane restrictions on Apple Mill Road, Future Shop Driveway and Interchange Way to accommodate detour and access road construction.

YRT Bus Route Services
Eastbound and westbound YRT bus stops (#4734 and #4732) on Highway 7 at Millway Avenue will remain open initially, but will be closed later this fall once the intersection is under construction. Notice will be provided in advance of changes to transit services.

Additional signs may be posted to support construction so please use extra care when travelling on Highway 7 between Jane Street and Interchange Way. When Highway 7 is being used to move construction material or equipment, traffic may be temporarily delayed or limited to a reduced speed.

Pedestrian Access/Walkways
Sidewalks will remain open on one side of Highway 7 to maintain pedestrian access during this portion of construction. Please take extra care while travelling near construction.

We regret any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this work.
