What we are doing and why

The TTC’s Easier Access Program is making subway stations accessible. The TTC is conducting preliminary investigative work (scanning and coring existing structures) in preparation for a future elevator project that will make Old Mill Station accessible.

The Old Mill Station Easier Access project (with 2 elevators) is scheduled to begin in late 2022 (date TBD). Ahead of construction and once dates and details are confirmed, a public open house will be held.

Preliminary design investigative work will occur at the station beginning on Thursday, July 22, 2021 and will involve the delivery of a generator, materials, equipment and associated vehicles. The generator may be audible in the overnight hours (on Thursday, July 22 and on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 1 a.m. – 5:30 a.m.).

A self-contained generator (trailer) will be used to provide a continuous supply of power to the station. The generator will be turned on when the electrical (A/C) power to the station is disconnected, and shut off when the work is completed and normal power supply is restored to the station.

  • The generator and truck will be parked on the bus driveway. Cables will extend from the generator into the station along the ground and will be covered/secured with ground mats.
  • Subway operations will not be affected by this work.

Thank you for your patience while we carry out this essential upgrade work.
