TTC track and signal work on Line 1 this weekend
August 26, 2016
Surface routes diverting for events
This weekend, Aug. 27-28, there will be no subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between Lawrence and Bloor-Yonge stations only as TTC crews carry out track and signal work. Shuttle buses will run, stopping only at subway stations along the route.
PRESTO is not yet available on all shuttle buses. Customers should carry tokens, tickets or cash in case the vehicle that arrives is not yet PRESTO-equipped.
Wheel-Trans buses will operate between York Mills and Bloor-Yonge stations upon request. Customers can speak with any TTC staff member to request the service.
To provide a faster trip for customers and keep vehicular traffic flowing smoothly, on-street parking will be restricted on both sides of Yonge Street between Lawrence and St. Clair Aves. from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to midnight Sunday. Parking is available at several Green P and private lots in the area.
Customers going to the Canadian National Exhibition should consider taking the University portion of Line 1 to Union Station, or any of the routes listed below.
Extra service to the Canadian National Exhibition continues on a number of surface routes until Sept.5. Customers can take any of the following routes to Dufferin Gate Loop (west end of CNE grounds) or Exhibition Loop (east end of CNE grounds):
- From Dundas West Station, take the 193 Exhibition Rocket express service to the Dufferin Gate Loop.
- From Dufferin Station, take the 29 Dufferin express or local service south to the Dufferin Gate Loop.
- From Bathurst Station, take the 511 Bathurst service south to the Exhibition Loop.
- From Union Station, take the 509 Harbourfront service to the Exhibition Loop.
- From King or St Andrew stations, take the 514 Cherry service to Dufferin Gate Loop
Regular subway service resumes Mon., Aug. 29 at 6 a.m. The next scheduled subway closures are:
- Line 2 Bloor-Danforth – Pape to St George – Sept. 3-5
- Line 1 – Wilson to Downsview – Sept. 10-11
- Line 1 – St Clair West to Downsview – Sept. 17-18

As the TTC and the City of Toronto complete important infrastructure work this weekend – and throughout the summer – customers should check ttc.ca for bus and streetcar route diversions. As well, to accommodate the many events that occur in a vibrant and exciting city like Toronto, some surface routes will divert for short periods of time.
