November Board Period Service Changes

On the cover: In late September, to mark the 40th anniversary of CLRV streetcars in Toronto, TTC Vice-Chair Alan Heisey, CEO Rick Leary and local artists unveiled A Streetcar Named Toronto. This beautifully painted car can be spotted along various routes in the city. As of Oct. 24, the TTC had 24 CLRVs still running. At the same time there were 181 of 204 low-floor streetcars on property, with 142 of those in service.

Starting on Sunday, November 24, the TTC will be making the following service adjustments:

Service reliability improvements
The program for continuous monitoring and improvement to schedules to better match observed operating conditions will result in new schedules for the following routes. All are weekday service changes, unless otherwise noted:
22 Coxwell
25 Don Mills
56 Leaside
60 Steeles West
68 Warden
121 Fort York-Esplanade
125 Drewry
925 Don Mills Express

Seasonal service begins
Seasonal extensions serving major tourist destinations will begin:
- Shoppers’ Extras – seasonal service increase at all divisions to accommodate the busy Christmas shopping season.
- Toronto Christmas Market – additional service to Distillery District.
- 86 Scarborough – seasonal service to Toronto Zoo for evening events.
- 501 Queen – CLRV extras on Saturdays and Sundays to commemorate vehicle retirement.

Service improvements
- Trial operation of Downtown Premium Express routes on the King Street Transit Priority Corridor.

Construction projects ending
- City and TTC road work at Queen and Kingston Road.
- Jane Station Roadway Construction – 26, 35, 55, 935 returns to Jane Station.
- Water main work on Pape Avenue – 25, 81 and 925.
- City construction on Brimley, Midland, Huntingwood and Danforth Road.
- Metrolinx construction RADs for Line 5 guideway construction.

- Bus roadway rehabilitation at Sheppard West Station until late 2020.
- Keele Station Easier Access construction until spring 2020.

Effective date: November 25, 2019
City construction on Midland Avenue between Danforth Road and Lawrence Avenue East is planned to end. Service levels will remain the same, but individual trip times will change.

21 Brimley
- City road construction ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
City construction on Brimley Road between Progress Avenue and Huntingwood Drive is planned to end. Service levels will remain the same, but individual trip times will change.

22 Coxwell/322 Coxwell
- Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 24, 2019
Schedules will also be revised on weekdays to improve service reliability. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day.

25 Don Mills
- City construction ends – Pape Avenue water main
- Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
With the completion of water main construction on Pape Avenue, service reliability improvements will be made to 25 Don Mills. Schedules will be revised, Monday to Friday, in all periods. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day. On Saturdays and Sundays, service levels will generally remain the same, but individual trips times will change.

26 Dupont
- TTC construction ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 24, 2019 
Construction at Jane Station will end and 26 Dupont will return to Jane Station. Service levels will generally remain the same, but individual trips times will change.

35 Jane/935 Jane Express
- TTC construction ends
- New express stop
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 24, 2019 
Construction at Jane Station will end and all platforms at Jane Station will re-open. 35 Jane and 935 Jane Express will return to serve the easternmost platforms at Jane Station. Service levels will generally remain the same, but individual trip times will change. New express stops will be designated for the 935 Jane Express at Jane and Alliance, stop 15803 for the northbound stop and 3862 for the southbound stop.

55 Warren Park
- TTC construction ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 24, 2019 
Construction at Jane Station will end and 55 Warren Park will return to Jane Station. Service levels in the peak periods will remain the same, but individual trip times may change. Off peak and weekend service levels will be reduced to every 30 minutes.

56 Leaside
- Service reliability improvement
- Metrolinx construction – Line 5 Eglinton
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
Schedules will be revised, Monday to Friday, to improve service reliability. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day.

57 Midland
- City road construction ends

Effective date: November 25, 2019 
City construction on Midland Avenue between Danforth Road and Lawrence Avenue East will end. Service levels will generally remain the same, but individual trips times will change.

60 Steeles West
- Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
Schedules will be revised, Monday to Friday, to improve service reliability. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day.

65 Parliament
- Seasonal service increase – Toronto Christmas Market
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 24, 2019 
Service will be increased in the early evening, Monday to Friday, and during the daytime and early evening, Saturday and Sunday to accommodate increased travel to the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District.

68 Warden
- Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
Schedules will be revised, Monday to Friday, to improve service reliability. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day. 

73 Royal York
- Schedule adjustment – additional trip
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
An additional southbound trip will be added to 73 Royal York service at 1:07 a.m., Mondays to Fridays, to better serve customers.

81 Thorncliffe Park
- City construction ends – Pape water main
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
Water main construction on Pape Avenue ends and service will revert to pre-construction schedules. Service levels will generally remain the same, but individual trips times will change.

85 Sheppard East
- Destination sign change
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019
Destination signs will be updated on the 85 Sheppard East to reduce customer confusion at Don Mills Station. Eastbound buses on the 85C (Don Mills Stn-Meadowvale) branch will display the branch letter.

86 Scarborough
- Seasonal evening service – Toronto Zoo
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: December 5, 2019 
The Toronto Zoo will be hosting evening events on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from December to April 2020. Additional service will be operated to the Zoo on those days, beyond the existing schedule, from the last trip (approximately 6 p.m.) to approximately 10:30 p.m. The service will be operated every 10 minutes on one bus between the Toronto Zoo and Meadowvale Loop at Sheppard and Meadowvale, allowing customers to connect to 85 Sheppard East and 86 Scarborough. These trips will be signed Special. Schedules will not be available online for this service on Thursdays and Fridays. Schedules will be available online for Saturdays, Sundays and on Boxing Day (December 26).

94 Wellesley
- Service reallocation
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
Service will be reduced in the daytime, from Monday to Friday, so that resources could be reallocated to improve service reliability on other routes. Service in the morning peak period and midday will change to every seven-to-eight minutes. Service in the afternoon peak period will change to every eight-to-nine minutes.

113 Danforth
- City road construction ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
City construction on Danforth Road between St. Clair Avenue East and Danforth Avenue will end. Service levels will generally remain the same, but individual trips times will change.

121 Fort York-Esplanade
- Service reduction
- Service reliability improvement
- Seasonal service increase – Toronto Christmas Market
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
Service will be reduced during midday, early evening and late evening periods due to low ridership. Service will be scheduled to operate every 30 minutes in the off-peak periods. Schedules will also be revised, from Monday to Friday, to improve service reliability. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day. A new temporary service will operate in the evening, from Monday to Friday, to accommodate customer travel to the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District. Buses will operate on a 121S (Union Stn-Distillery District) branch, turning back via Yonge Street, Wellington Street West, Bay Street to Front Street.

125 Drewry
- Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
Schedules will be revised, Monday to Friday, to improve service reliability. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day.

140-Series Downtown Express
- Trial route change – King Street Transit Priority Corridor
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: November 25, 2019
Service on Downtown Express routes within downtown Toronto will change and operate via King Street on a trial basis. Within the transit priority corridor (Bathurst to Jarvis), buses will serve new express-only bus stops, which will be separate from streetcar stops to reduce customer confusion and vehicular/passenger congestion. All buses will charge a double fare within downtown.

141 Downtown/Mt Pleasant Express
- Trial route change – King Street Transit Priority Corridor
- Route change – Extension to Lawrence Avenue East
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: November 25, 2019
Service in downtown Toronto will change and operate via King Street on a trial basis. Within the transit priority corridor (Bathurst to Jarvis), buses will serve new express stops only. In addition, service will be extended to operate from Lawrence Avenue East for the first three trips of the morning and both trips in the afternoon. All local stops will be served between Eglinton Avenue East and Lawrence Avenue East. Scheduled trip times and stop locations will change, but service levels will generally remain the same. Premium express fares will continue to apply.

142 Downtown/Avenue Rd Express
- Trial route change – King Street Transit Priority Corridor
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: November 25, 2019
Service in downtown Toronto will change and operate via King Street on a trial basis. Within the transit priority corridor (Bathurst to Jarvis), buses will serve new express stops only. Scheduled trip times and stop locations will change, but service levels will generally remain the same. Premium express fares will continue to apply.

143 Downtown/Beach Express
- Trial route change – King Street Transit Priority Corridor
- New express stop
- TTC and City construction ends – Queen and Kingston Road
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: November 25, 2019
City and TTC construction at the intersection of Queen Street East and Kingston Road will end and regular routing on 143 Downtown/Beach Express will resume in the east end of the route. Service in downtown Toronto will change and operate via King Street on a trial basis. Scheduled trip times and stop locations will change, but service levels will remain generally the same. A new express stop will be designated on Eastern Avenue at Carlaw Avenue in both directions to provide new express service to the Leslieville neighbourhood. Premium express fares will apply at all stops in both directions.

144 Downtown/Don Valley Express
- Trial route change – King Street Transit Priority Corridor
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: November 25, 2019
Service in downtown Toronto will change and operate via King Street on a trial basis. Within the transit priority corridor (Bathurst to Jarvis), buses will serve express stops only. Scheduled trip times and stop locations will change, but service levels will remain generally the same. Premium express fares will continue to apply.

145 Downtown/Humber Bay Express
- Trial route change – King Street Transit Priority Corridor
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: November 25, 2019
Service in downtown Toronto will change and operate via King Street on a trial basis. Within the transit priority corridor (Bathurst to Jarvis), buses will serve express stops only. Scheduled trip times and stop locations will change, but service levels will remain generally the same. Premium express fares will continue to apply.

169 Huntingwood
- City road construction ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
City construction on Huntingwood Drive between Kennedy Road and Brimley Road will end. Schedules will be the same as May 2019.

925 Don Mills Express
- City construction ends – Pape water main
- Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 25, 2019 
With the completion of water main construction on Pape Avenue, service reliability improvements will be made to 925 Don Mills Express. Schedules will be revised, Monday to Friday, in all periods. Service levels and trip times will change throughout the day. Saturday and Sunday schedules will generally remain the same, but individual trips times will change.

Service Changes – Streetcar

501 Queen
- City and TTC construction ends
- Temporary service increase – CLRV streetcar retirement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 24, 2019
City and TTC construction at Queen Street East and Kingston Road will end and regular service will resume. Schedules will change to account for new low-floor streetcars operations. CLRV streetcars are scheduled to be retired at the end of 2019. To celebrate the vehicles, extra service operated by CLRVs will be scheduled on 501 Queen, from Sunnyside Loop to Queen/Kingston Road on weekend afternoons until December 22.

503 Kingston Rd
- City and TTC Construction ends – Queen and Kingston Road
- Trial route change
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: November 25, 2019
City and TTC construction will end and regular service will resume through the Queen Street East and Kingston Road intersection. The consolidation of service on Kingston Road on 503 Kingston Rd will continue on a trial basis. Customers travelling to destinations on Queen Street, west of Broadview Avenue, will continue to be required to transfer to 501 Queen service.

504 King
- Seasonal service increase – Toronto Christmas Market
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: November 24, 2019
Service will be increased on the 504 King in the evening, Monday to Saturday, and during the afternoon on Sundays, to accommodate increased travel to the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District. Two extra streetcars will be scheduled to operate between Charlotte Loop and Distillery Loop.

511 Bathurst
- CLRV operation
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: Continues
All service on 511 Bathurst will continue to be designated for CLRV operation. Low-floor streetcars will be deployed on the route as they become available.

Service Changes – December Board Period

Starting on Sunday, December 22, the TTC will be making the following service adjustments:

2 Bloor-Danforth
- Seasonal service reduction
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: December 22, 2019 
Services will be reduced during the peak and midday periods to match the decline in ridership during December Board Period.

65 Parliament
- Seasonal service increase ends – Toronto Christmas Market
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: December 22, 2019 
The additional service that was added in November to accommodate increased travel to the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District will be removed.

121 Fort York-Esplanade
- Seasonal service increase ends – Toronto Christmas Market
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: December 22, 2019 
The temporary 121S (Union Stn-Distillery District) Monday to Friday evening service that was added in November to accommodate customer travel to the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District will be removed.

501 Queen
- Temporary service increase ends – CLRV streetcar retirement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: December 22, 2019
The weekend afternoon CLRV celebratory extras that were added in November will be removed as the vehicles are retired.
