October Board Period Service Changes

Starting on Sunday, October 7, the TTC will be making the following service adjustments:

MAJOR SERVICE CHANGES

Service reliability improvements
The program for continuous monitoring and improvement to schedules to better match observed operating conditions will result in new schedules for the following routes:

Seasonal service adjustments
> 85 Sheppard East – weekend schedules will revert to regular times to match the change in closing time of the Toronto Zoo.
> 86 Scarborough – weekend schedules will revert to regular times to match the change in closing time of the Toronto Zoo.
> 121 Fort York-Esplanade – seasonal service extensions to Cherry Beach and Ontario Place will end for the season and regular service patterns resume.
> 175 Bluffer’s Park – seasonal service to Bluffer’s Park will end for the season and this route will be temporarily suspended.
> 509 Harbourfront – seasonal service increase at various times of the week will end and regular service levels will resume.

Service improvements
> Schedule adjustments on Line 1 Yonge-University to improve service reliability.
> New express service will operate on four routes (Weston Road, Dufferin Street, Lawrence West, and Finch Avenue West).
   -The Express Bus Network will also continue to be renumbered and rebranded to improve its visibility and prominence to customers.
> Crowding in the peak periods and off-peak periods will also be reduced for customers on 12 bus routes in 20 periods of service.
> Streetcar route profile improvements for King Street.

Construction-related changes
> Lawrence West Station TTC construction ending.
   -Bus services will return to Lawrence West Station bus terminal.
> TTC track construction at Lansdowne Avenue and College Street ending.
   -Regular routing will return to 47 Lansdowne, 505 Dundas and 402 Parkdale through this area.
> City road construction at Yonge and Sheppard ending.
   -Construction occupying road lanes at Yonge and Sheppard will end and schedules will be revised on 97 Yonge to reflect this change.

SERVICE CHANGES REQUIRING STOP OR STOP ANNOUNCEMENT MODIFICATIONS

> New express route changes along Weston Road, Dufferin Street, Lawrence Avenue West, Finch Avenue West.
> New peak-period continuous service along Kingston Road.
> Elimination of 29B short-turn service to Tycos Drive.
> New on-street loading at Lawrence West Station for all eastbound services.
> Streetcar route profile improvements for King Street.

SERVICE CHANGES WITH POTENTIAL EFFECTS ON PRESTO FARE PAYMENT

> New on-street loading at Lawrence West Station for all eastbound services.
   -Customers travelling eastbound on Lawrence Avenue West on routes 52 and 952 will serve Lawrence West Station from the street.
   -Customers transferring from eastbound buses on Lawrence Avenue West will need a valid transfer to access the other bus services and subway at Lawrence West Station.

SERVICE CHANGES

1 Yonge-University
> Schedule change
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
A number of schedule adjustments will be made to improve service reliability on Line 1 Yonge-University. Additional service will operate between approximately 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. between York Mills Station and Finch Station from Monday to Friday. Additional service will also operate from approximately 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. between Wilson Station and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station.

11 Bayview
> Service increase
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding for customers in the peak periods from Monday to Friday. In the morning peak period, scheduled service will be improved to every eight minutes. In the afternoon peak period, scheduled service will be improved to every seven-to-eight minutes. Weekday schedules will also be revised at all times to improve service reliability.

12 Kingston Rd
> New service
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 9, 2018
New peak-period service will be trialled on this route to provide continuous service along Kingston Road. A new branch, 12D, will operate during the peak periods, from Monday to Friday, between Victoria Park Station and the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus.
In the morning peak period, the 12D will be scheduled to operate every 30 minutes. In the afternoon peak period, the 12D will be scheduled to operate every 25 minutes. Overall, service levels on this route will remain largely unchanged between Victoria Park Station and Brimley Road.

24 Victoria Park/924 Victoria Park Express
> Service increase
> Service reliability improvement
> Express route change
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Express service on the 24E Victoria Park will now be operated by the new 924 Victoria Park Express. There will be no change to service levels or periods of operation of the express service. Service will be increased on the 24 Victoria Park to reduce crowding for customers in the late evening from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved to every nine minutes. Schedules in the morning peak period, from Monday to Friday, will also be adjusted on the 24 Victoria Park to improve service reliability. Service levels will change slightly.

25 Don Mills
> Service increase
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Service will be increased on the 25C (Don Mills Station-Steeles), to reduce overcrowding for customers in the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday. Service will be improved to every four-to-five minutes.

26 Dupont
> Service increase
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Service will be increased between approximately 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to reduce crowding for customers.

29 Dufferin/929 Dufferin Express
> Route change
> New express bus service
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 9, 2018
New express bus service on the 929 Dufferin Express will now operate between Wilson Station and Dufferin Gate Loop. Service will operate every nine-to-10 minutes in most time periods, from Monday to Friday. Local service on the corridor will also be revised in most time periods and scheduled service will change to every seven-to-nine minutes. There will be no change to the service in the late evening. The 29B short-turn service to Tycos Drive that operated in the peak periods, from Monday to Friday, will also be eliminated so that full continuous service will operate along the Dufferin Street corridor in the peak periods.

39 Finch East

Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding for customers in the early morning period from Monday to Friday. One additional trip on 39A (Finch Stn-Neilson) will be added at approximately 5:05 a.m. Trips on the 39B (Finch Stn-Old Finch and Morningview) will also now start eastbound at Old Finch Avenue and Morningview Trail to allow customers to board the bus at the start of the eastern loop.

47 Lansdowne
> TTC construction ends
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 7, 2018
TTC track construction at Lansdowne Avenue and College Street will end and regular service will resume.

52 Lawrence West/952 Lawrence West Express
> TTC construction ends
> Service reliability improvement
> New express bus service
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Construction at Lawrence West Station will end and regular service patterns will resume. The 52G (Lawrence West Stn-Martin Grove) will return to terminate at Lawrence West Station. New express bus service on the 952 Lawrence West Express will now operate between Lawrence Station and Pearson Airport. Service will operate every 11-to-12 minutes in the peak periods, from Monday to Friday. Local service on the corridor will also be revised in the peak periods to every three-to-four minutes. Weekday schedules on the 52 Lawrence West will be revised at all times to improve service reliability for customers. In order to accommodate the increased service at Lawrence West Station, all eastbound service will be changed to serve the station on-street on Lawrence Avenue West. Customers transferring from eastbound buses on Lawrence Avenue West will require valid proof-of-payment to access the other bus services and subway at Lawrence West Station.

54 Lawrence East

Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 13, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce crowding for customers in the afternoon on Saturday. Combined service will be improved to every six-to-seven minutes.

59 Maple Leaf
> TTC construction ends
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Construction at Lawrence West Station will end and regular service patterns will resume. The 59 Maple Leaf route will return to terminate at Lawrence West Station. Weekday schedules will be revised at all times to improve service reliability for customers.

63 Ossington
> Service increase
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 13, 2018
Service will be increased on this route in the late evening on Saturday to reduce crowding for customers. Service will be improved to every eight minutes.

75 Sherbourne
> Schedule change
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Schedules will be changed so that Monday-to-Friday afternoon peak-period trips will start service southbound at Sherbourne Station, to reduce delays in service. One trip in the afternoon peak period will start service southbound at Sherbourne Station, instead of northbound at Jarvis Street and Queens Quay.

85 Sheppard East/985 Sheppard East Express
> Hours of service to Toronto Zoo – Seasonal service change
> Express service adjustment
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Seasonal service scheduled to the Toronto Zoo, Saturday and Sunday, will revert back to regular service hours to match the regular closing time of the Zoo, at 4:30 p.m. The last trip on the 85D (Don Mills Stn-Rouge Hill GO Stn via Toronto Zoo) and 85F (Don Mills Stn-Toronto Zoo) branches will leave from the Zoo at approximately 5:30 p.m. Service will also be adjusted on weekends to provide service on the 985 Sheppard East Express with articulated buses. Local service will change to operate with regular buses.

86 Scarborough
> Hours of service to Toronto Zoo – Seasonal service change
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Seasonal service scheduled to the Toronto Zoo, Saturday and Sunday will end. The last day of service to the Zoo on this route will be Sunday, October 7.

89 Weston/989 Weston Express
> New express bus service
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 9, 2018
New express bus service on the 989 Weston Express will now operate between Keele Station and Steeles Avenue West. Express service will operate in the peak periods, from Monday to Friday, only. Service will operate approximately every 12 minutes in the morning peak period and every 10 minutes in the afternoon peak period. In the peak periods, the local service will be changed slightly. In the morning peak period, service will change to every six minutes. In the afternoon peak period, it will change to every 10 minutes. Additionally, weekday schedules will also be revised in all time periods to improve service reliability for customers.

92 Woodbine South
> Seasonal service ends
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: October 7, 2018
The additional seasonal holiday service will end and regular service levels on holidays will resume.

95 York Mills
> Service increase
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 13, 2018  
Service will be increased on this route to reduce crowding for customers in the daytime and early evening on Saturday. In the morning, the combined service will improve to every seven minutes. In the afternoon, service will improve to every six-to-seven minutes. In the early evening, the 95B branch to University of Toronto Scarborough Campus will extend operation until approximately 9 p.m. to reduce crowding from York Mills Station to Morningside Avenue. Service west of Morningside Ave will improve to every seven-to-eight minutes.

97 Yonge

> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
With the change in road construction conditions along Yonge Street, the service and schedules on this route will be revised to improve service reliability for customers. Three services will now operate:
   -97A (Davisville Stn-York Mills Stn via Yonge Blvd); operates in all off-peak periods.
   -97B (Queens Quay-York Mills Stn via Yonge Blvd); operates in the peak periods only.
   -97F (Davisville Stn-Steeles); operates all day, every day.

The scheduled service frequency on this route along the different parts of Yonge Street will remain largely unchanged.

102 Markham Rd

> Service increase
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce crowding for customers in the afternoon on Saturday. Service will improve to every nine-to-10 minutes. At the request of York Region Transit, the contract service north of Steeles in the early evening period from Monday to Friday will be adjusted to every 30 minutes.

109 Ranee

Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Construction at Lawrence West Station will end and this route will serve the station again.
Service will also be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding for customers in the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved to every 11 minutes. Weekday schedules on this route will also be revised to improve service reliability.

112 West Mall

Effective date: October 9, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce crowding for customers in the midday from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved to every 10 minutes.

121 Fort York-Esplanade
> Seasonal service change ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 8, 2018
The seasonal service extensions to Cherry Beach and Ontario Place will end and the route will resume regular service operating between Princes’ Gate Loop and Distillery.

129 McCowan North
> Service increase
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 13, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce crowding for customers in the morning on Saturday. Service south of Steeles in Toronto will improve to every six-to-seven minutes in the morning and to every six minutes in the afternoon. Saturday schedules will also be revised in all time periods to improve service reliability for customers.

131 Nugget

Effective date: October 13, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding for customers in the afternoon on Saturday. Service will be improved to every 14 minutes.

175 Bluffer’s Park

Effective date: October 7, 2018
The seasonal service on 175 Bluffer’s Park will end. The last day of service on this route will be October 6.

400 Lawrence Manor

Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Construction at Lawrence West Station will end and this route will serve the station again.

402 Parkdale
> TTC construction ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Construction at the intersection of Lansdowne Avenue and College Street will end and this route will resume regular routing.

925 Don Mills Express
> Service increase
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 9, 2018
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding for customers along the Don Mills Road corridor in the morning peak period from Monday to Friday. Service will be improved to every seven-to-eight minutes.

939 Finch Express
> New express service
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 7, 2018
On Saturday and Sunday, new 939B Finch Express (Finch West Stn – Scarborough Centre Stn Express) service will operate during the daytime periods. The new express service will increase capacity on Finch Avenue West between Finch Station and Finch West Station and reduce crowding for customers. On Saturday, 939B Finch Express will be scheduled to operate every 14 minutes in the morning and every 12 minutes in the afternoon. On Sunday, 939B Finch Express will be scheduled to operate every 16 minutes.

504/304 King
514 Cherry

Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Major changes will be made to the streetcar service on the King Street corridor to further improve service reliability for customers. Two branches of the 504 King will now operate, and the 514 Cherry route will be eliminated.
   -504A (Dundas West Stn-Distillery)
   -504B (Broadview Stn-Dufferin Gate)

Streetcar service along Roncesvalles Avenue, Sumach Street and Cherry Street will be operated by the 504A with service between Dundas West Station and Distillery. Streetcar service along Broadview Avenue and Dufferin Street will be operated by the 504B with service between Broadview Station and Dufferin Gate. The 304 King overnight service remains unchanged and will operate between Dundas West Station and Broadview Station, via King Street.

Routing description
Eastbound 504A to Distillery: from Dundas West Station via east on Edna Avenue, south on Dundas Street West, south on Roncesvalles Avenue, east on King Street, south on Sumach Street, and south on Cherry Street to Distillery Loop.
Westbound 504A to Dundas West Stn: from Distillery Loop via north on Cherry Street, north on Sumach Street, west on King Street, north on Roncesvalles Avenue, and north on Dundas Street West to Dundas West Station.
Eastbound 504B to Broadview Stn: from Dufferin Gate Loop via north on Dufferin Street, east on King Street, east on Queen Street East, and north on Broadview Avenue to Broadview Station.
Westbound 504B to Dufferin Gate: from Broadview Station via west on Erindale Avenue, south on Broadview Avenue, west on Queen Street East, west on King Street, south on Dufferin Street, west on Springhurst Avenue, and south on Fort Rouille Street to Dufferin Gate Loop.

505 Dundas
> TTC construction ends
Customer impact: Major
Effective date: October 8, 2018
TTC track construction at Lansdowne Avenue and College Street will end and regular routing will resume. Buses will continue to operate on this route due to a shortage of streetcar fleet availability.

509 Harbourfront
> Service reliability improvement
> Seasonal service increase ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: October 7, 2018
Additional service that was added at various times of day for the increased seasonal activity on the Harbourfront will end for the year and regular service levels will resume. Schedules will also be revised, seven days a week, to improve service reliability.

HOLIDAY SERVICE

Thanksgiving
Details for service around the Thanksgiving civic holiday are:

Friday, October 5
A regular Monday-Friday service will be operated. This is the last weekday of the September 2018 board period.

Saturday, October 6
A regular Saturday service will be operated. This is the last day of the September 2018 board period.

Sunday, October 7
A regular Sunday service will be operated. This is the first day of the October 2018 board period.

Monday, October 8 (Thanksgiving Day)
A holiday service will be operated on most TTC routes (see below for exceptions). The TTC has designated Monday, October 8, as a holiday for its employees, and there will be a special holiday sign-up, using holiday crewing rules.

192 Airport Rocket – Increased service, same as on Monday, July 3, except in the morning:
