January Board Period Service Changes

Starting on Sunday, January 6, the TTC will be making the following service adjustments:

Service reliability improvements – the program for continuous monitoring and improvement to schedules to better match observed operating conditions will result in new schedules for the following routes:
5 Avenue Rd
26 Dupont
34 Eglinton East
36 Finch West
38 Highland Creek
65 Parliament
68 Warden
100 Flemingdon Park
953 Steeles East Express
985 Sheppard East Express
506 Carlton
510 Spadina

Seasonal service adjustments – Seasonal service changes made in the December Board Period will end and regular service will resume.

Service improvements
>501 Queen: All service will be scheduled with CLRVs (except during the peak periods when 5 ALRV trippers will be scheduled).
>85 Sheppard East: Additional early morning trips will be scheduled to reduce overcrowding.
>The Express Network will continue to be renumbered and rebranded to improve its visibility and prominence to customers.

New construction projects
>Watermain work on Pape Avenue begins January 1 and is scheduled for completion July 31, 2019.
-Construction on Lipton Avenue, with a single westbound lane of traffic maintained so that buses can exit Pape Station; scheduled to end by April 30.
-Construction on Pape Avenue from Danforth Avenue to Selkirk Street; scheduled to end by April 30.
-Construction on Pape Avenue from Selkirk Street to Gowan Avenue; scheduled to end by July 31.
-Routes impacted: 25 Don Mills, 81 Thorncliffe Park, 925 Don Mills Express
>Wellington Street construction begins; buses will replace streetcars on 503 Kingston Rd.

>McNicoll Garage impacting the 42 Cummer until December 2019.
>Wellesley Station Easier Access construction impacting the 94 Wellesley.
>Roncesvalles Carhouse renovation continues until December 2019.
>Roncesvalles Carhouse partial reopening - January to December 2019.
>Line 3 Scarborough vehicle rehabilitation - January to December 2019.
>Metrolinx Eglinton LRT construction (existing) - January to December 2019.
>Metrolinx Eglinton LRT construction (RAD buses) - January to December 2019.
>Metrolinx Finch West LRT construction - January to December 2019.
>City construction at Six Points - January to December 2019.
>Davisville Carhouse – February 2019.

SERVICE CHANGES

5 Avenue Rd
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 7, 2019
Schedules will be revised in all periods from Monday to Friday to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions. Afternoon peak period service levels will be extended to operate until approximately 7 p.m. Service levels in all other periods will not change.

25 Don Mills
> Temporary schedule change – City construction
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Watermain construction work on Pape Avenue begins and is scheduled for completion on July 31, 2019. Schedules will be revised in all periods to improve service reliability.

26 Dupont
> Schedule change
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 7, 2019
Schedules will be revised in all periods from Monday to Friday to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions. In the morning peak period, service will change to every 14 minutes. In the afternoon peak period, service will change to every 18 minutes. Service levels will not change in the off-peak periods.

34 Eglinton East
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Schedules on this route will be adjusted from Monday to Friday in order to improve service reliability from the continued construction disruptions from Line 5 Eglinton. Service levels will be slightly widened.

36 Finch West
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 7, 2019
Schedules will be revised in the late evening from Monday to Friday to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions. Service will change to every nine-to-10 minutes.

38 Highland Creek
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 7, 2019
Schedules will be revised in most periods from Monday to Friday to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions. Service will change to every 10-to-11 minutes in the morning peak, and to every six-to-seven minutes in the afternoon peak period. Service levels in other periods will remain the same, but trip times may change.

39 Finch East
> Service reallocation
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 12, 2019
Service will be adjusted in the afternoon and early evening on Saturday to reduce overcrowding. Service in the afternoon will be adjusted to every seven minutes. Service in the early evening will be improved to every seven minutes.

42 Cummer
> Service reallocation
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 7, 2019
Service will be adjusted in the early evening and late evening from Monday to Friday to reduce overcrowding. Service in the early evening will be adjusted to every 12 minutes. Service in the late evening will be improved to every 16 minutes.

45 Kipling/945 Kipling Express
> Route name change
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 7, 2019
As part of the Express Network rebranding initiative, during peak periods, the 945 Kipling Express will replace the express service currently provided by 45E (Kipling Stn-Steeles Express).

53 Steeles East/953 Steeles East Express
> Route name change
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 7, 2019
As part of the Express Network rebranding initiative, during peak periods, the 953A Steeles East Express will replace the express service currently provided by 53F (Finch Stn-Staines Express), and 953B Steeles East Express will replace the express service currently provided by 53E (Finch Stn-Markham Rd Express). Schedules on 953 Steeles East Express will be revised at all times to improve service reliability for customers. Morning peak period service levels will remain virtually unchanged, but individual times at stops may change. Afternoon peak period service levels will remain unchanged, but individual times at stops may change.

56 Leaside
> New school trip
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 7, 2019
A new afternoon school trip will be inserted on 56 Leaside from Eglinton Station at 2:58 p.m. to meet the dismissal time at Leaside High School. The trip will arrive at Eglinton Avenue and Hanna Road at 3:11 p.m., and will supplement the existing school trip.

65 Parliament

Effective date: January 7, 2019
Schedules will be revised in all periods from Monday to Friday to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions. In the morning peak period and midday, service will change to every 13 minutes. In the afternoon peak period, service will change to every 11 minutes. In the early evening, service will change to every 18 minutes. In the late evening, service will change to every 16 minutes.

68 Warden

Effective date: January 7, 2019
Schedules will be revised in all periods from Monday to Friday to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions.

70 O’Connor
> Temporary Construction Routing

Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 6, 2019
In order to reduce delays experienced by our customers on the 70 O’Connor buses in making the west-to-south left turn from Eglinton onto Eglinton Square, there will be a change to the on-street looping to avoid the west-to-south left turn at the Eglinton/Eglinton Square intersection. Buses will now operate two ways via Craigton Drive, Rannock Street and Victoria Park Avenue. This looping will eliminate two stops, Pharmacy Ave at Eglinton Ave and O’Connor Drive at Victoria Park Avenue.

81 Thorncliffe Park

Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Watermain construction work on Pape Avenue begins and is scheduled for completion on July 31, 2019. Schedules will be revised in all periods to improve service reliability.
In the morning peak period, from Monday to Friday, service will change to every five-to-six minutes. In the midday period, from Monday to Friday, service will change to every 11 minutes. In the afternoon peak period, from Monday to Friday, service will change to every nine minutes. In the daytime on Saturday, service will change to every seven minutes. In the daytime on Sunday and holidays, service will change to every eight-to-nine minutes.

85 Sheppard East
> Service increase – early morning
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding for customers in the early morning period from Monday to Friday. Additionally, the connection to the 5:53 a.m. Line 4 trip at Don Mills will be improved.

86 Scarborough/986 Scarborough Express
> Route name change
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 7, 2019
As part of the Express Network rebranding initiative, during peak periods, the 986 Scarborough Express will replace the express service currently provided by 86E (Kennedy Stn-Sheppard Express).

100 Flemingdon Park
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 7, 2019
Schedules will be revised in all periods from Monday to Friday to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions. In the morning peak period, service will change to every three-to-four minutes. In the midday, service will change to every six minutes. In the afternoon peak period, service will change to every six minutes. In the early evening, service will change to every nine minutes.

101 Downsview Park
> City construction ends
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 6, 2019
With the end of City construction on Carl Hall Road, the construction routing on 101 Downsview Park will be retained as permanent routing. There will be no changes to schedules.

902 Markham Rd Express
> New express stop
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 7, 2019
The existing stop on Markham Road at Kingston Road southbound will be included into 902 Markham Rd Express to complete the stop pair at this intersection. Schedules will remain unchanged.

925 Don Mills Express
> Temporary schedule change – City construction
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 7, 2019
Watermain construction work on Pape Avenue begins and is scheduled for completion on July 31, 2019. Schedules will be revised in all periods to improve service reliability.

984 Sheppard West Express
> Branch assignment
> New express stop
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Branches on 984 Sheppard West Express will be labelled to conform to TTC standards. The current 984 (Sheppard-Yonge Stn-Sheppard West Stn) that operates during off peak periods will be relabelled 984B (Sheppard-Yonge Stn-Sheppard West Stn). There will be no changes to schedules. A new express stop will be designated for the 984 Sheppard West Express westbound at Sheppard Ave West and Rivalda Road.

985 Sheppard East Express
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Schedules will be revised in all periods to improve service reliability and better reflect observed operating conditions. From Monday to Friday, morning peak period service will be adjusted to every five minutes. Midday service will be adjusted to every 11 minutes. Service levels on all other periods will remain largely unchanged, however times at individual stops may change. On Saturday, early morning and morning service will be adjusted to every 13-to-15 minutes. Service levels in the afternoon and evening will remain largely unchanged, however times at individual stops may change. On Saturday, morning service will be adjusted to every 15 minutes. Service levels in the all other periods will remain unchanged, however times at individual stops may change.

501/301 Queen
> Vehicle type change – streetcar fleet availability
> Service change
> Low-floor streetcar introduction
Customer impact: Minor
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Additional service will operate during the busiest times in the morning and afternoon peak periods to reduce crowding due to the accelerated retirement of the larger, articulated legacy streetcars. In addition, low-floor streetcars are now operating seven days a week, with full low-floor service later in 2019. Not all stops served by low-floor streetcars are accessible.

503 Kingston Rd
> Vehicle type change – City construction
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 7, 2019
City construction on Wellington Street, between Yonge Street and Church Street, will require the removal of streetcars. Starting the January 2019 Board Period, streetcars will be replaced by buses, operating between Bingham Loop and York Street, following the regular streetcar routing of Church Street, Wellington Street and York Street.

504 King
> Accessible service
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 6, 2019
With the full deployment of low-floor streetcars, the 504 King route will be designated as accessible. Stops on Roncesvalles Avenue, between Queen Street West and Bloor Street West, where the ramp cannot currently be deployed, will be retrofitted in 2019.

506 Carlton
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Schedules will be revised on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays to improve service reliability.

510/310 Spadina
> Service reliability improvement
Customer impact: Moderate
Effective date: January 6, 2019
Schedules will be revised at all times to improve service reliability.
