COVID-19 Update: Positive tests

March 21: The first individual is a contract employee who works in the Transit Control Department. The individual developed symptoms on March 19. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, March 20, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 18, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is an Electrician who works in the Subway Infrastructure Department. The individual developed symptoms on March 18. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 21, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 17, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The third employee is a Station Supervisor who works in the Stations Department. The individual developed symptoms on March 19. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 21, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 18, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The fourth employee is a Bus Operator who works at Wilson Division. The individual developed symptoms on March 19. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 21, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 17, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

March 19: The first employee is a Station Supervisor who works in the Stations Services Department. The individual is asymptomatic. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 19, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 13, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is a Station Collector who works at Danforth Division. The individual developed symptoms on March 8. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on March 13, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 5, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The third employee is a Station Janitor who works in the Station Services Department. The individual developed symptoms on March 15. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 19, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 17, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The fourth employee works in the Revenue Operations Department. The individual developed symptoms on March 16. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 19, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 12, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The fifth individual is a contract employee who works at Lakeshore Garage The individual developed symptoms on March 14. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, March 18, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 14, 2021, and is currently self-isolating at home.

March 18: The first employee is an Electrician who works in the Subway Infrastructure Department. The individual developed symptoms on March 15. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 18, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 14, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is a Transit Enforcement Officer who works in the Special Constable Service Department. The individual developed symptoms on March 15. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 18, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 11, and is currently self-isolating at home.

March 17: The first employee works in IT Services. The individual developed symptoms on March 13. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, March 16, 2021. The individual has been working from home since January and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee works at Head Office. The individual developed symptoms on March 12. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, March 16, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 11, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The third employee is a Serviceperson who works at Station Services. The individual developed symptoms on March 15. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, March 17, 2021. The individual last reported to work on March 13, and is currently self-isolating at home.

Following TPH guidance on case and contact management, the TTC is assessing whether there were any close contacts with the individual while contagious, requiring self-isolation.

The TTC takes safety very seriously and considers the health and well-being of TTC employees of utmost importance. The TTC will continue to report information about positive diagnoses and publish the information on the TTC COVID-19 case update page on the TTC website at: http://www.ttc.ca/Riding_the_TTC/Safety_and_Security/Case_update.jsp. To date, 60 employees have returned to work since testing positive.

Please note, priority access is now available for TTC employees who are essential frontline workers or are required to support frontline work and are also exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. If you develop new or worsening symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (see link above) or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, stay home and contact Occupational Health at 416-393-4572 or OHEW@ttc.ca to be connected with a Disability Management Specialist (DMS). If you are eligible for testing, your DMS will provide you with a letter from Toronto Public Health recommending priority testing.

Important reminder: Safety notices advise employees with concerns about their personal health to contact their family doctor or Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000. Toronto Public Health has also set up a coronavirus hotline that provides the public with a place to get information, ask questions about this virus and connect with a health professional at 416-338-7600.
