COVID-19 Update: Government Stay-at-Home Order

On January 12, 2021, the Ontario government declared a second provincial emergency under s 7.0.1 (1) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMPCA). Over the past two weeks, COVID-19 cases have doubled and the province’s hospitals are on the brink of reaching their capacity.

Safety Notice – Government Stay-at-Home Order

Effective Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., the government has issued a stay-at-home order requiring everyone to remain at home with a few exceptions for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store, accessing health care, or for essential work.

This order is aimed at limiting mobility and reducing the number of daily contacts people have with those outside of their immediate household. Further, all businesses must ensure that any employee who can work from home does so.
