COVID-19 Update: Employee tests positive

5/28/20 8:56 PM

Today (May 28), the TTC has learned that another employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual is a Station Collector from Danforth Division. The employee tested positive for COVID-19 today, May 28, 2020. The employee developed symptoms on May 26, 2020. The employee last reported to work on May 25, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

A joint investigation with TPH and the TTC is assessing whether there were any close contacts with the individual while contagious, requiring self-isolation.

As COVID-19 is now community spread, we ask that everyone please monitor for symptoms and let your Manager know if you develop any symptoms, as you will need to stay home. Information on how to self-monitor can be found at: https://www.toronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/8ea0-How-to-Self-Monitor_EN.pdf.

Please note, priority access is now available for TTC employees who are essential frontline workers or are required to support frontline work and are also exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. If you develop new or worsening symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (see link above) or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, stay home and contact Occupational Health at 416-393-4572 or OHEW@ttc.ca to be connected with a Disability Management Specialist (DMS). If you are eligible for testing, your DMS will provide you with a letter from Toronto Public Health recommending priority testing.

The TTC takes safety very seriously and considers the health and well-being of TTC employees of utmost importance. The TTC will continue to report information about positive diagnoses and publish the information on the TTC COVID-19 case update page on the TTC website at: http://www.ttc.ca/Riding_the_TTC/Safety_and_Security/Case_update.jsp.

Important reminder: Safety notices advise employees with concerns about their personal health to contact their family doctor or Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000. Toronto Public Health has also set up a coronavirus hotline that provides the public with a place to get information, ask questions about this virus and connect with a health professional at 416-338-7600.

Thank you to everyone for all your efforts and understanding. Please stay safe and well.
