Organizational change

As most of you are aware diversity and inclusion are key priorities for me as CEO of the TTC and the reason we are creating a new role entitled Chief Diversity and Culture Officer. The creation of this new role demonstrates my commitment to address systemic issues within the TTC, to represent and be a leader within the communities we serve; as well as to promote a TTC culture of respect, equity and fairness.

TTC Organization - September 2020

This new role will strategically align the critical functions and services provided by the following new departments: Human Rights and Investigations, Diversity, and Talent Management. This new structure will retain end-to-end accountability and will develop, lead, review, implement and manage all policy, programs and practices addressing Anti-Black Racism, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as Recruitment and Outreach.

This new group will also align dedicated resources in response to the Ombudsman’s recommendations. Gemma Piemontese will be the Interim Chief Diversity and Culture Officer. She will advance this new role while the organization recruits for the position.

With this change comes alignment in the Chief People Officer role. Megan MacRae will move into the role as Acting Chief People Officer (CPO) effective Monday, September 21 while we begin recruiting.

The CPO will continue to be responsible for all aspects of the TTC’s People Group management and planning functions. The CPO will also be accountable for providing high quality strategic and operational direction with respect to the services provided by the various departments within the group. The departments include: Employee Development and Training, Business Transformation Office, Employee Relations and Fitness for Duty, HR Strategy and Client Services, and Employee Health and Wellbeing as well as Policy Development, Employee Services and Systems, Operations Training Centre, and Investigative Services.

Together, these changes will help us grow as an organization and better reflect the communities where we live and work.

Thank you for all you do. Stay safe.
