Changes to bus operations
I want to share some important changes we are making to our bus operations.
These changes below are being made to provide our Operators with greater safety and comfort, and adapt to our customers’ changing travel patterns.
Effective today (March 23) and being implemented over the next 24 hours:
> Bus access is now limited to rear doors, except to accommodate accessibility needs, to allow for greater physical distancing.
> Discontinuing the use of fare boxes for cash, TTC tickets and tokens. More than 93 per cent of customers have adopted PRESTO.
> We stopped issuing papers transfers on March 18, 2020.
> Asking bus Operators to close the protective shield. The health and safety of our employees and customers is top priority – now more than ever.
> All 900-series Express routes are reallocated as needed, except for the 900 Airport Express, 903 Kennedy-Scarborough Centre Express and 927 Highway 27 Express.
> All 140-series Downtown Express routes are reallocated where needed.
> 176 Mimico GO and 508 Lake Shore service is reallocated as needed.
Regular bus services will continue to run along Express routes that are suspended, with the majority of service operating every 10 minutes or better. All neighbourhoods continue to be served, and additional buses will be operated where and when required.
While these measures are being taken out of an abundance of caution, we continue to monitor this evolving situation and we may take additional steps as needed. Our employees and customers will be advised of any additional changes.
I also wanted to let you know that the deadline has been extended for PRESTO card customers to cancel their Autorenew or 12 Month Pass for the April pass period. Customers now have until 11:59 p.m. on March 27, 2020 to cancel these contracts. Please share this information with our PRESTO card customers, so they are aware of this change. They can cancel their agreements on prestocard.ca.
