New Acting Chief Safety Officer: Betty Hasserjian

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Betty Hasserjian as Chief Safety Officer (acting), effective January 12, 2020.

Betty has more than 20 years of experience in the health and safety field. She joined the TTC in 2002 and most recently held the position of Manager of Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) Policy and Strategy.

In this role she was responsible for managing the corporate SH&E performance measurement reports (KPIs) and the regular reporting of statistical trends and data analysis to the Executive, management, and the TTC Board. She also leads the annual review of the SH&E Management System for the Executive and develops goals, objectives, and plans to continually improve the corporate SH&E Management System.

Betty holds an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology and a Master of Health Science Degree in Occupational and Environmental Health, both from the University of Toronto. She is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a member of both the Occupational Hygiene Association of Ontario and the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

In this new position as Chief Safety Officer (acting) she will be a crucial member of our Executive Team, ensuring that safety remains the foundation of our culture at the TTC.

Please join me in congratulating Betty, and as always I thank you all for your support during this transition.
