Continuously striving for excellence, TTC has received several recent awards celebrating the dedication of the over 14,000 employees and emphasizing TTC's roles as industry leader in many different areas.
2017 APTA Transit System of the Year
The TTC has won the prestigious 2017 American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) award for Transit System of the Year. Winning an APTA award is a huge honour that acknowledges the TTC as the “best of the best.” It also means that the TTC has made a significant contribution in the public transportation industry and is a role model of excellence.

In 2015, the TTC created a two-year diversity and inclusion corporate plan to provide a framework to systematically advance diversity and inclusion initiatives in a coordinated manner. Recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion, the TTC has weaved initiatives and objectives throughout the organization to ensure inclusivity is a key component across all areas of TTC’s business.
National Corporate Leadership Award in the category of Safety and Security - the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA)

Introduced in 2015, the Peer Support Program provides care and support for employees who experience acute emotional trauma resulting from suicide and suicide attempts in the subway system. Acute emotional trauma is the predominant occupational injury in the TTC’s Subway Transportation department.
